Taking care of your new tattoo is very crucial. We strongly advise you to follow these directions. 1. Leave bandage on for two hours. 2. Wash tattooed area with warm soapy water. Use your hand and not a washcloth. Pat dry with a towel. 3. Apply Neosporin® or Tattoo Goo to the tattoo at least three times a day. The more you apply it, the faster it will heal. Rub it in as you would apply hand lotion. Repeat for two weeks. 4. Keep out of the sun/tanning beds for two weeks after getting your new tattoo. After it is healed, use the highest sun block available to preserve your tattoo's colors. 5. Do not soak your new tattoo for two weeks (i.e. bathtub, pool, hot tub) Showering is acceptable but do not allow water to spray directly on your tattoo.
1. Any new piercing should be cleaned thoroughly twice a day. This is important! A surgical scrub, such as Betadine or Provon is recommended. If these products cause irritation, a low to mild PH soap, such as Liquid Dial Antibcterial or Liquid Lever 2000, can be used. Soaps that contain deodorant, cold cream, strong perfume, or other additives should be avoided. DO NOT USE BETADINE ON GOLD JEWELRY, AS IT WILL DISCOLOR IT! 2. During the healing process, matter secreted from the piercing will dry on the jewelry and around the openings of the piercing. Use only warm water to rinse this secretion off of the jewelry and piercing. Lather the piercing with the surgical scrub or soap and move the jewelry back and forth under running water, to make certain that all of the soap and surgical scrub is removed. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE OR ALCOHOL SHOULD NOT BE USED. 3. Ear care solution should be used on ears, nostrils, septum and all other above-the-neck piercings. 4. For a lip, tongue or cheek piercing, with the exception of bottled water, rinse with Listerine Antiseptic GOLD, each and every time after eating, drinking, smoking and oral sex. 5. New piercing, especially a nipple piercing, should not be subject to heavy abuse during the healing period. If this precautionary advice is not followed, serious infection can occur. 6. Oral contact with and/or handling of a new piercing can cause infection and should be avoided. Although genital piercing does not prohibit sex during the healing process, a condom should be worn to minimize the risk of infections. 7. If signs of infection become apparent, an antibiotic such as Bacitracin, Neosporin, Tri-salve, etc. may be used. Use of these products should be limited to no more than ten days, as prolonged use may cause problems. Follow the directions on the packaging to avoid allergic reactions. 8. According to medical sources, the overall healing process is enhanced with a well balanced diet and a vitamin mineral supplement. A suggested 50 mg Zinc supplement taken three times a day, with meals, can accelerate healing. The dosage should be reduced or ceased when the healing process is complete. 9. With proper post piercing care, infections in piercing are rare. However, a physician should examine you as soon as possible if you thing the piercing is infected. in case of a nostril or septum piercing infection, it is important to see a physician as soon as possible. Minor soreness may be experienced with a piercing is new and starting to heal. If the discomfort continues and the piercing is sore and/of exhibits excessive redness and /or discharge, you may have an infection. Do not panic. The Jewelry should not be removed, thinking the infection will go away. A physician should be consulted. If an infection is present, removal of the jewelry may eliminate the passageway through which the infectious secretions are discharged. To the best of our knowledge, a physician will prescribe an antibiotic for the infection and recommend any further treatment needed. 10. On rare occasions, a lump behind a nipple piercing may develop. These lumps are usually benign cysts or severe infections that require minor surgery. Contact a physician if a lump appears and becomes painful or does not go away in a short time. Please note that the hard tissue, which forms around the piercing with a lump behind it, is normal and will disappear in time. 11. Body jewelry can be removed and changed when the piercing is healed. However, if the jewelry is removed before the area surrounding the piercing has toughened, the delicate interior of the piercing can be easily torn when new jewelry is inserted. Tongue piercing's require two weeks to heal. Ear, nostril, septum, inner lope, cheek, labret, lip, nipple and any piercing below the waist require a two month healing period. Naval and cartilage of ear require at least a six month healing period. If the jewelry must be removed for a short time, a short piece of mono filament nylon fishing line, the length of the piercing, can be used. This will not be easily noticeable and will keep the piercing open until the jewelry is replaced. |
